Antananarivo Lemurs’ park
Few miles west of the capital Antananarivo, away from the congestion and pollution of the city, a little oasis with nine species of different lemurs. The goal of the park, is to look after in the best possible way lemurs that have been kept as pet by their old unscrupulous owner that took them from their natural habitat. All the new-borns, after few months with their mum, are then released in their natural habitat. A fantastic half-day excursion from the capital. €35 pp (minimum 2 people).
Ambohimanga & the Queen’s Palace
Half an hour north of the capital lies the ancient citadel of the Merina People. Still considered and revered as a sacred place, today is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A very well maintained citadel surrounded by beautiful Malagasy countryside. In the afternoon we’ll be back in the capital on the highest hill of all, Analamanga. From the top, not only we will learn more about history and legends of the Royal family of Madagascar, we will also enjoy some impressive views 360˚ over the city. €45 pp (minimum 2 people). Price for one person is 80 EUR.
Ampefy, 120 km west of the capital, is a superb day out to enjoy the Malagasy countryside as well as some of the most amazing nature’s wonders: the geysers. The surrounding area is also full of beautiful sights to enjoy with an easy 2/3 hours walk. The day excursion include a great lunch by the lake in of the best restaurant of the area. Departure by latest 6 AM to enjoy the day to the fullest. Return to the capital by 6 PM. Cost 60 EUR PP (min 2pax). Should you wish to spend the night in Ampefy, there is an extra charge of 35 EUR PP, including hotel, dinner and breakfast.
Andasibe National Park
3/4 hours East of the capital is the most visited National Park of Madagascar, Andasibe Mantadia. The, famous for the biggest of the lemurs’ species the Indri and the incredible variety of flora. You will be accompanied during the visit by a local English speaking guide that will facilitate the close encounters with local wildlife. After a 4 hours’ visit, we will have lunch (not included in the price) at the Vakona Lodge, a fantastically well looked after place immerse in the forest. After lunch, we’ll visit the Reserve and a little island full of friendly lemurs. We’ll be back to the capital by 8PM. Departure by latest 5 AM to enjoy the day to the fullest. €95 pp (minimum 2 people). Should you wish to spend the night in Andasibe and visit the primary forest of Mantadia on the second day, there is a supplement of 70 EUR pp and it includes the hotel (Feon’Ny Ala) on a bb basis plus all the park fees.
Antsirabe is a lovely town in the highlands 3.5 hours south of the capital. We will tour Antsirabe on a rickshaw, to discover local traditions of silk-weaving, stone cutting and zebu horn carving. In the afternoon, after lunch (not included), we will take the scenic drive and a short hike to Lake Titriva, a beautiful lake that fills the extinct crater of a volcanic cone surrounded by majestic metamorphic cliffs. We’ll be back in the capital by 8PM. Departure by latest 5 AM to enjoy the day to the fullest. €75 pp (minimum 2 people) .
