Amber Mountain National Park Day Tour

€55 per person

Amber Mountain National Park is a lush tropical forest nestled within a semi-arid savanna landscape, dotted with extinct volcanoes, crater lakes, and rivers. This unique mix of ecosystems makes it a dream destination for birdwatchers, botanists, and hikers alike. Ranging from lower altitudes to peaks of 1,400 meters, the park is home to three distinct forest types: dry deciduous forest, montane rainforest, and mid-altitude rainforest.

Your visit will also take you through Joffreville, a charming village that once served as a cool retreat for French colonial officers escaping the heat of Antsiranana. On clear days, you’ll enjoy sweeping views over Antsiranana Bay and the Mozambique Channel, even from over 20 km away.

We’ll pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 AM for the one-hour drive to Joffreville and the park entrance. There, with a local park guide, you’ll set off on an easy 4 to 5-hour hike, exploring the park’s diverse trails and scenery.

Make the most of your day by combining this excursion with either:

  • The Red Tsingy (from +€12 pp)

  • The Three Bays (from +€5 pp)

Bundle and save while experiencing even more of Madagascar’s spectacular north!

The Main Sights of the Tour
Amber Mountain National Park
Located 40 km south of Antsiranana and at an altitude varying between 850 m and 1,475 m, the Amber Mountain National Park is a humid forest covering a volcanic massif. We compare this park to the "emerald forest" of the North, as the diversity of fauna and flora is surprising. A hikers' paradise with over 30 km of marked trails.
