Departure from your hotel in Antsiranana / Diego Suarez at 8:00 am towards the coastal village of Ramena, located about 20 km east of the city. The road runs alongside part of the immense bay of Diego Suarez before reaching Ramena and its long sandy beach.
From Ramena, departure by small private motorboat to the famous Emerald Sea. The crossing takes about 45 minutes, depending on sea conditions. Little by little, the water changes colour: from the deep blue of the bay to a turquoise almost transparent above the sandbanks and shallow coral reefs.
Stop at Suarez Island, a small islet surrounded by turquoise waters. Free time to swim, walk on the sand or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the Emerald Sea. Lunch is served on the island before returning by boat to Ramena around 2:00 pm.
In the afternoon, continue by vehicle to the famous Three Bays. First stop at Sakalava Bay, a large bay open to the ocean, known for its constant wind. Further on, you reach Dune Bay, where the dunes descend towards the sea. Last stop: Pigeon Bay, probably the most sheltered and one of the most beautiful of the three.
In the late afternoon, we continue to the narrow passage where the Indian Ocean enters the immense bay of Antsiranana. From this point you can see the old lighthouse and the remains of military cannons once installed to protect the entrance to the bay.
The sunset here is often spectacular, especially when the last light reaches the cliffs and reflects on the water entering the bay. On clear days, you can even see in the distance the waters of the Emerald Sea, where we were only a few hours earlier.
After sunset, return to Ramena and continue to Antsiranana / Diego Suarez.

Best time to visit
The area is ideal from May to November, with sunny days and constant wind, especially around Sakalava Bay, well known for kitesurfing.
